2020 Red Horizon

An intense, ripe blend of the Bordeaux varieties with a little of the deep coloured German Dunkelfelder in the mix. The nose shows ripe black cherry, fig, blackberry, and black plum with notes of vanilla, Christmas cake, black licorice, cocoa and pastry crust, and a subtle hint of dried sage. Full bodied and ripe on the palate with firm tannins, crisp acidity, and creamy richness showing coffee, dark chocolate, bacon, stewed berries, and blueberry with a savoury tobacco note on the finish.

This rich dark red wine is a blend of 6 different varietals: the majority being Merlot at 58%, followed by Petite Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon, both at 13%. Included for the first time is Dunkelfelder, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. All the grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos. Vinified and barrel-aged separately for 16 months, in 25% French and 75% American oak, the wines were then assembled with great care to create the ideal blend. The wine was then bottled and left to mature further before its release.

Pair with braised short ribs or mushroom and black bean burgers.
